During the last couple of years, CBS added recently drafted players to the FA pool. Players like Stephen Strasburg and Bryce Harper were added to the regular FA pool even though they had never worn a major or minor league uniform.
We should make a league rule that these types of players are ineligible to be picked up via the regular waiver wire process. These young stars need to go through our major league and minor league draft processes.

I would say probably half or more of the players on the add/drop lists on CBS fall into that category. Just look at the players lists. You can go on there and find guys in rookie leagues like the Gulf Coast League. Only difference is no one has heard of them. Besides I don't think there is a way that a league can filter out players to make unavailable from the list CBS has.

I had actually added this in under the Minor League Draft umbrella, that a player cannot be claimed through waivers until he has spent 24 hours in the majors. However, I left it off when retyping the rules by mistake, so I will add it on now....

I remember that being added to the constitution over the winter but how do we keep a player with no experience from being claimed if all of the players come from the same pool? Is that something that can be tagged by CBS, if a player has experience or is this something that will have to be monitored manually?

That is something that I, and my trusty vice-commish will have to monitor, lol.
And if anyone else notices it, bring it to my attention.
Makes for more work for me, but it's worth it. Makes the drafts more meaningful.

When sorting stats, you can filter for minor leaguers. Can this filter be applied to waiver pickups?
While on the subject of the Constitution, there is a discrepency. In the new section on post-season play, it says that draft picks will be decided by the outcome in an 8 team consolation playoff. In two other places, the Constituion says it will be determined by the end of the regular season standings. Better to fix it and clarify it now then next February when two teams want the first pick.

I thought that would be the answer. lol. No problem. Really that is the only way to do this because I don't think you can filter the free agent list for MLB experience. It does show if they are minor leaguers but doesn't say if they have MLB experience. But how will we handle it if this does happen? Say for instance a team reads that an MLB team will be calling up a pitcher to start 3 days from now and that team wants to pick this guy up off the waiver wire. Then either Chris or I see that this pitcher has no MLB experience. Would Chris or I have to remove this pitcher from his roster and just reverse the waiver claim? What may work better and be easier to monitor is allow teams to pick up a player with no MLB experience but that player has to appear in a game within 10 days or that player is removed from that teams roster. Problem is though that it would not stop a team from adding adding a player such as a pitcher that is in the minors but has appeared in an MLB game. But what we could also do and this may irritate some teams for different reasons, but we could allow teams to carry players on their roster during the season with no MLB experience but at the end of the season if they still have no MLB experience that player cannot be carried over into next season. BUT I think we should exempt some players from this such as Bryce Harper who I have carried since last season and someone like Dustin Ackley who Seola gave up draft picks to obtain. I can see where teams may get upset if players were exempt from this but I can also guarantee you Carolina and I'm sure Seola would not be happy if these guys didn't make it up to MLB this season and we had to give them up. I think this is something we need to kick around and get other peoples thoughts but Chris I will help in any way you want to monitor this and make it work.
