Thank you everyone for another awesome season! It sure is nice to have a league with such a solid core of owners.
That said we are losing one – Matt – thanks for a great couple of years! It’s been a pleasure to have you in the league. I believe that Jack, co-owner of North Carolina, will be assuming the title of owner for the Seaola Beach squad. If any of the rest of you are pondering leaving the league, please let me know.
Congratulations once again to Joe! The Brewers have now won 4 of the last 5 Denny’s League Championships – one shy of the record of 5 held by D-Town.
D-Town took the Wild Card, and placed 2nd, both for the first time in franchise history.
Seola Beach won the 5th division championship in franchise history, their first since 2005.
Hanover won the 2nd division championship in its franchise history. The other came back in 2002.

I am hoping to have all contracts advanced by the end of the weekend.
One rule change that is going into effect is extending expiring contracts, as was discussed before the season. When I update contracts on CBS, any player with a “0” contract will be able to be extended, for up to 2 more years, at a rate of $5 per year. Teams will only have from October 1 through October 10 to award these extensions. The caveat to these extensions is that if you extend a player in this manner, that player is locked onto your roster until opening day of the following season. He cannot be traded or released. There is one exception, and that is if the player suffers a major injury. A major injury being: one that will keep the player from throwing a baseball for 60 days or more. The injury also must be sustained after the player was extended, and prior to the draft. You will still be able to extend players who have 1 year remaining on their contracts, when keeper lists are submitted, as in years past. The rate for those extensions will remain at $3 per year for a max of 2 extra years.
Another change that will be made will be abolishing the daily waivers. We will now have a straight add/drop system – although we will continue to have a maximum of 3 adds per week. There are a couple of different reasons for this change. First, with a limit of 3 adds per week, having waivers run daily seems like overkill. The second, and more important in my opinion, is the “Hanley Rule”. Any player who is dropped by a team will have to go through waivers. If claimed on waivers, he will maintain his contract status. If he clears waivers and becomes a FA, when added he will then have the standard 7/1 free agent contract.
Speaking of Hanley Ramirez… I’ve thought long and hard about that issue, and I am reversing my prior decision. Hanley will stay as a 7/1. I am 100% against changing rules mid-season unless absolutely necessary… and this case wasn’t absolutely necessary. HR was dropped legally and claimed legally, and thus should not get treatment that any other player being dropped would not face.
Those are the only changes that I am going to implement right now. I am open, as usual, to all other suggestions and ideas.
Below is the 2012 draft order, as determined by playoff finish and the consolation bracket:
1. Tatooine
2. San Diego
3. North Carolina
4. Marysville
5. Chicago
6. Alexandria
7. Carolina
8. Durham
9. Hanover
10. Seola Beach
11. D-Town
12. Milwaukee
I think that covers most of what I have to say. Feel free to offer your input, thoughts, ideas, questions, etc.
Once again, I thank each and every one of you, and greatly appreciate your efforts! This league has been running for 12 years now, which is an accomplishment in itself, and I see nothing but great things in the future!
