The add/drop/waivers process will be slightly different this year. Instead of all players being on a nightly waiver cycle, the only time waivers will be utilized is when a player is dropped from a roster. That player will then be on waivers for 2 days, and can be claimed using the standard waiver rules. One caveat is that if you successfully claim a player on waivers, his contract stays with him and onto your roster. Example: Hanley Ramirez is a 35/2 and is dropped. Durham claims him on waivers. Hanley is then a 35/2 player for Durham. If Hanley clears waivers, he could then be added as a free agent, thus having the usual free agent contract of FA/1.
Players that are in the free agent pool and not on waivers can be added at any time. No more waiting for the waivers to cycle at night, which should equal less early morning panic about potential illegal rosters. There will still be a max of 5 adds and successful waiver claims per week.

Hey Chris,
Wasn't the max add/drop 3 per week last year? 5 is cool with me, just asking to make sure.
I like the idea of a waiver claim including the contract.

You are correct, Paul, it was 3 last year - and will remain so this year. My bad!

you can make that number 20 if we do on Sunday then it really means nothing what the number is since it runs Sunday/Monday am and that is it for the week right? If that is the case...any player waived can not be added till the next Sunday/monday weekly move date and their contract would be a FA and not added through waivers....correct??

Now I am confused (after reading the Brewers addition). Since when is there only a single weekly move date? I assumed the waiver date was still at least 1 day after a player is dropped.
Note that I do see a potential issue with the add-drop and that may be what Milwaukee is referring to. Since we can now add/drop for free (after the waiver period), we could have lots of free streaming of players.
I guess the quaestion is - are we limited to three add-drops per week OR three waiver pickups per week (or both combined)?

The waiver date will always be one full day after the player was dropped. What day of the week it is does not matter.
The limit of 3 adds per week is still in effect. An add can be either a free agent addition or a successful waiver claim.
The transaction week is the same as the scoring period - Monday to Sunday. A player claimed on Sunday and awarded just after midnight Monday morning counts as a transaction for the prior week.
Those are my quick after-midnight answers... if I missed something or there are more questions, post away and I'll follow up tomorrow (later today I suppose, technically).

I thought we said previous that only 1 day a week we can make moves[add/drops] which is the Sunday/Monday when Cbs runs them? So we can still make just 3 moves a week and they can be made any day?I know how waivers work but if we can only make moves on 1 day like you said at the end of last year then no player is a waiver since each week they clear waivers and are available each new week with a reset contract
That is why I mentioned what I did before....

I think there is some confusion on that, Joe. Sorry if I didn't explain it well. You can make transactions any day of the week. My reference to the Sun/Mon deadline was only that it was the end of the period, and after that your allotted amount of transactions resets to 3 for the next week.
