Adjust penalty for blown save and relief loss combination. Concern was BS + RL was over penalized, even more than a successful Save. • Keep current rule: For reference, now a Save gets 6 pts, a BS is minus 3, and a RW 7 pts. A RL is minus 4 (-5 for a L and +1 for a RL). Combining a BS and RL is minus -7. • Suggestion 1: Reduce penalties to minus 2 for BS and minus 3 for RL. Save remains 6 points. • Suggestion 2: Keep penalties for BS as minus 3 and RL as minus 4. Increase value of a Save to 8 to 10 points (i.e., more than the BS/RL combined penalty (minus 7) and more than a Relief Win (+7)).
If agreed to this could be implemented in 2016.

My main gripe was that the set up guys were heavily penalized for a RL. There also isn't much upside for a set up guy. Win a few points or loose a bunch.

If the main issue is a lack of value for middle relievers or setup guys, perhaps just increasing holds by a half point or full point would rectify the situation.
