How should playoff tie-breakers be determined? Obviously we ran into an issue with this in 2010, when Alexandria and Carolina tied for the Wild Card in an unprecedented finish. Without having a rule in place, the two teams played each other in a one week playoff, while simultaneously playing Tatooine in the first round of the playoffs. Alexandria beat Carolina, while outscoring Tatooine - controversially moving on to the Denny's League Championship Series.

Do we even need divisions?
why not one big standings and top 6 make it.
also do we redo the divisions each year or are we locked in if we keep divisions?Seems like ours has been so tough ...just asking

I personally like the divisions, as it gives more of a realistic feel. I'm not against changing the format, however, if that is what the masses wish for.
I have also given some thought to setting up a system for the divisions to rotate, based on either past year, or previous three years records. Not positive how I would do it yet, but I would think it would lead to more even divisions.
Anyone else have thoughts or suggestions on that?

You get some serious rivalrys going in those division games. Carolina has been my mortal enemy for the past two seasons. I'm guessing that Hanover will be a close second.
I'd be interested in hearing what Chris has in mind for the rotating divisions.

Off the top of my head, it would be something along these lines: Add up each teams records for the last 3 years. The three best teams would be split into the three divisions, and so on. The divisions would end up this way: Division 1 = 1st best record, 4th, 9th, 10th Division 2 = 2nd, 5th, 8th, 11th Division 3 = 3rd, 6th, 7th, 12th

Obviously, I was not part of it last year but a playoff week seems like the fairest and most fun. If not, I am more a fan of total points for the final spot. There always seem to be one team that simply ran into a string of bad luck. That said, I am also in a FF league where the last playoff spot goes by a totally different measure (the Power Ranking).
In terms of divisions, I like divisions a lot more than one large league. My concern is not the overly tough division as much as the too easy division. Of course, the Pine Tar Sluggers are willing to take on all takers.

I had to play in the one playoff week, which sucked. I had the best regular season record, which put me in the bracket against the wildcard team, which happened to be two different teams playing against each other. I ended up beating one of the teams, but lost to the other. This caused me to get knocked out of the playoffs and getting third place overall.
If we end up choosing head to head score (the two tied teams records against each other) we should get another tie breaker just in case their record is 3-3 or something of the like.

Between H2H and Total Points, whichever loses would be the second tie-breaker. Division record would be the third in either case.
Of course, if a three-way tie happens, H2H would not work, and that tie-breaker would be skipped in the process, whether its the first or second tie-break.
