Article 9. Regular Season
A. The regular seasons consists of 44 games (aka match-ups) played out in 21 weeks of the MLB regular season.
B. Each week, every team will go up against 2 opponents. During weeks 10 and 11, each team will have 3 matchups.
C. A teams points accrued for a weeks’ time is compared against both teams that they are playing, and the team that has the highest point total wins the match-up.
D. The tie breaker for a week is team ERA. If two teams end up with the same point total at the end of a week, their pitchers for that entire week will have their total ERA’s calculated and the team which has the lowest ERA will get the win.
E. If there is a tie in the standings, the teams will be compared in the following (in order) to break the tie: head to head record; division record; total points; opponent record.
F. These games will determine the team’s records, and therefore determine the league standings.
G. Roster moves may be made daily, although the total points accrued for all players while on the active roster goes towards the weekly total.
Article 10. Playoffs
A. Six teams shall play in the season ending playoff tournament each year, beginning in week 22.
B. Those teams will be comprised of the two division champions from the East and West divisions, and four Wild Card teams - the four teams with the best records that were not division champions (Ties are subject to tie breaker rules outlined in Article 9.E)
C. The first round will consist of the four Wild Card teams playing, while the two division winners have a bye. The wild card team with the best record will play that with the worst, and the wild card teams with the second and third best records will play each other.
D. The two winners of the wild card matchups will play the division winners in week 23. The wild card round winner with the better record will play the division winner with the lesser record. The wild card round winner with the lesser regular season record will play the division winner with the better record.
E. The two winners of the second round matchup will then play each other in a best-of-3 week series, called the Denny’s League Championship Series (DLCS), which consists of 3 separate matchups lasting one week each.
F. The two losers of the second round match-up will play each other in a best of 3-week consolation match to determine the 3rd and 4th place winners.
G. The two losers of the first round matchup will play a best of 3-week consolation match to determine 5th and 6th place winners and seeding for the next years’ draft.
H. The eight teams that do not make the playoffs will all play a standard eight team tournament beginning in week 22. The order of finish in this tournament will be used to determine the draft order for the following season. First place receives the #1 pick; second place gets #2, etc. The last place finished in this tournament will pick 9th, one spot behind the team that finishes in 5th place.
